Kena2mi, Can’t log inSo, I just renewed an expired membership yesterday. Created a new online account and password, downloaded the app (in spite of horrendous reviews) tried to log in. Wrong email or password. Several attempts, no luck. Requested password reset, didn’t come through, didn’t go to spam.

Tried again, still no password reset, half an hour now. Went to the regular website and guess what? The email and password I’d written down works fine there. Even tried the app one last time, password still doesn’t work. Maybe if I’m ever able to actually get in I will improve the review, but it’s clear from other reviews that fixing bugs and updating their app is not a priority for Costco. Crazyindianguy, New member. But an old app.Let me start by saying that I’m a new member to Costco: I’m coming from being a Sams member for the last 2 years or so (so I have experienced the competition first-hand).

In terms of pricing, and value-for-money: Costco seems to be the obvious choice to me. This app on the other hand felt like going back to 2010. Less-than-stellar UI design, slow and clunky interface, the inability to use my smartphone for self-checkout, the inability to add my membership card to my Apple Wallet (I’m sure I’ll discover more missing features as I use this fossilized piece of software). All of the things that the competition readily offers within their single app. I understand value-for money, i understand not changing something that’s been working for you for a long time now. Why fix something that ain’t broke, right? I really do get it.

But you can’t keep doing things the tired old way forever - the competition is moving ahead. If you want to compete for the money of the next generation of consumers: you need to keep up with the times and the rapid pace of technology. Build a better app than.

Build something that’s feature-rich, convenient, incorporating both the Apple-wallet system and mobile checkout solutions that consumers clearly want (judging by other reviews for this app). Ke5ykt, This App is a DinosaurI’m a recent Costco convert from Sam’s, and my wife and I did our first Costco trip last week. The store was so much nicer, the people were so much friendlier, the selection of products was great.

And then I downloaded the app. I’m shocked at how bad this app is for a company as big as Costco. The app feels like it’s from 5+ years ago, it’s literally no comparison to the Sam’s app. It has no ability to tell you what products are in stock at a given store. There are tons of missing items, i.e. I’m in Costco and I search the Costco app for a product that’s sitting right in front of me on a shelf, and there’s zero trace of it in the app.

There’s no Scan-and-Go functionality (where you can scan items on the app and pay without having to wait in line). The app literally just got the ability like 2 weeks ago to have an electronic version of your membership card so that you don’t have to carry your card with you to check out. Sam’s app had that years ago.

I’m really disappointed in how bad this app is. Even though I really like the Costco stores better, if it wasn’t for my wife strongly preferring shopping at Costco over Sam’s, I’d switch back to Sam’s in a heartbeat just because of how bad this app is. Really hope they blow this app away and just start over.
